Aqara connects security with the G350 and G400, two cameras designed for Matter and Home Assistant

Aqara continues to move quickly in the field of smart homes, and particularly in security. After a preview at CES 2026, two highly anticipated products are finally hitting the market: the Camera Hub G350 and the Doorbell Camera G400.

These two products are not just completing a range. They mainly mark a true strategic shift: maximum openness to ecosystems, local intelligence, and deeper integration into environments like Home Assistant. Clearly, Aqara appeals to both individuals and advanced users.

A new generation of connected security at Aqara

With these two new products, Aqara clearly reinforces its vision of a unified and interoperable smart home. The idea is no longer just to offer cameras, but to integrate them into a global ecosystem capable of communicating with other market standards.

The brand emphasizes three key points: compatibility, local intelligence, and respect for privacy. And this is not just marketing.

As the manufacturer specifies, these new models allow for smart detection, local or secure cloud storage, and integration with the leading platforms on the market.

There is notably extensive compatibility with Apple Home, Alexa, Google Home, SmartThings, and, interestingly for the readers of the site, RTSP support which opens the door to direct integration in Home Assistant or a NVR.

Camera Hub G350: a 4K camera that becomes the heart of the connected home

The G350 is not just a simple indoor camera. It is probably one of the most interesting products Aqara has launched in recent years.

First notable point: it is the world’s first Matter-certified camera. And that changes a lot of things in practice.

Concretely, this means the camera can integrate directly into a Matter ecosystem to offer live view, two-way audio, and notifications, without solely relying on the Aqara app.

But where it becomes really interesting is its hybrid role.

The G350 also acts as a Zigbee hub and a Matter controller. In other words, it can centralize Aqara Zigbee devices and third-party Matter products into a single interface. It even acts as a Matter bridge to expose Zigbee devices to other platforms.

In a Home Assistant setup, one can easily imagine the scenario: a single G350 that collects Aqara sensors while serving as a camera… and simplifying the overall architecture.

On the imaging side, Aqara has gone big. It features a dual-lens system with a 4K wide-angle camera and a 2.5K telephoto. All with hybrid zoom up to 9x and motorized 360° rotation. The result: a single camera covers an entire room while being able to zoom in on a specific detail.

The embedded intelligence also does the job. The camera can automatically follow a person or an animal, filtering events to avoid unnecessary notifications (and we know how valuable that is in daily life).

A small detail that we particularly appreciate: the motorized physical cover that masks the lens when the camera is inactive. Simple, effective, reassuring.

Doorbell Camera G400: a video doorbell designed for reliability and serious installations

On its side, the G400 addresses another need: outdoor surveillance, with a clearly stability-focused approach for continuous use.

The first strong point, and not the least: the presence of PoE (Power over Ethernet). This allows for power and wired network connection via a single cable. For an installer or a demanding user, this is a huge reliability advantage.

For those who cannot run a network cable, Aqara has provided an alternative with standard 8–24V power and dual-band Wi-Fi 6.

Regarding imaging, the G400 offers a 2K resolution with a 165° field of view and especially a vertical 3:4 format. And this detail changes everything. You can see both the visitor’s face and packages on the ground. Perfect for avoiding unpleasant surprises.

Intelligence is also present here. The AI detection works locally to recognize movements and people even without Internet. And additionally, the cloud allows for advanced recognition of faces, packages, vehicles, or animals.

In a concrete scenario, this provides, for example, a different alert depending on whether it’s a delivery person, a family member, or a stranger. And that’s typically the kind of detail that really improves daily life.

Complete openness to ecosystems… and a real plus for Home Assistant

This is probably the most interesting point for advanced users.

Aqara continues to open its products, and these two models are no exception. In addition to standard integrations (HomeKit Secure Video, Alexa, Google Home…), the presence of RTSP is excellent news.

This allows for retrieving video streams directly into Home Assistant, Frigate, or a compatible NAS NVR.

In a slightly advanced home automation setup, one might envision scenarios like:

A presence detection on the G400 that triggers recording on a Synology NAS, turns on an outdoor spotlight, and sends a notification with a snapshot in Home Assistant.

Or the G350 which automatically follows a movement in a room while Home Assistant triggers an alert only if the alarm is activated.

We are moving here from a simple gadget to a true logic of a modular security system.

Privacy, storage, and user control at the center of the experience

Aqara places a strong emphasis on this point, and for once, it is not just a marketing argument.

Both cameras offer several storage options: microSD card (up to 512 GB), NAS, and encrypted cloud with Aqara HomeGuardian.

This gives the user the choice between a fully local operation or a hybrid solution.

Local intelligence also plays a key role. Some processing is done directly on the device, allowing for alerts to continue even during an Internet outage.

And the physical cover of the G350 provides an additional layer of trust. It is not just a software option that can be disabled, but a real mechanical element.

Products that confirm Aqara’s strategy

With these two new products, Aqara clearly affirms its direction.

The G350 demonstrates a willingness to integrate multiple functions into a single smart, central product. The G400, on the other hand, aims for a reliable and durable installation, capable of integrating both in private homes and in professional environments.

And above all, these products no longer seek to confine the user to a closed ecosystem. On the contrary, they open up to Matter, to RTSP, and to major market platforms.

For a Home Assistant user, it is exactly the type of product we expect today: flexible, interoperable, and usable in advanced scenarios.

In short, Aqara continues to rise in quality… and becomes increasingly hard to ignore in a serious smart home project.
