Lancey presents Pacabat at #CES2024, the first energy-autonomous heat pump

LANCEY Energy Storage, already awarded at CES in 2018 for its radiator integrating a battery (which we tested here), presented at CES in Las Vegas a new concept of a 100% energy-autonomous heat pump, compatible with current standards and allowing users to reduce their energy costs.

With an installed base of 5,000 electric radiators integrating an energy storage function, the Grenoble startup is now embarking on a new project: the development of an air/water heat pump with a battery, which is energy-autonomous.

This will be the first air/water heat pump incorporating electricity storage batteries and a dual compressor (AC/DC), and the only one on the market to fully value renewables in regulatory calculations within the meaning of Environmental Regulation 2020. Combining PV and storage with an air/water heat pump is a major innovation in the exponentially growing energy renovation sector.

This DeepTech project, supported by BPIFrance, and in collaboration with the Ecole des Mines de Paris, is part of the LANCEY philosophy as well as the logic of a range extension, offering the user access to self-consumption while improving their thermal comfort.
Raphaël Meyer, co-founder and CEO of LANCEY Energy Storage

PACABAT is an innovative solution and above all a patented configuration in the form of an integrated system: a medium-power air/water heat pump with a battery and an inverter, with a double compressor: AC alternating current and DC direct current, connected to solar panels.

It will benefit from two power supply modes: AC network during off-peak hours and directly from a DC photovoltaic production, with the possibility of storing the surplus consumed. Finally, the device will benefit from a direct connection to a management cloud.

With PACABAT, LANCEY Energy Storage is targeting the replacement of gas and fuel oil boilers, a market driven by strong growth prospects of more than 50% by 2050 in France (source AFPAC) and which is showing great momentum at the European level (+50% for the air/water heat pump in 2022 according to the European Heatpump Association) and across the Atlantic.

PACABAT is a DeepTech project, financed with the help of BPIFrance currently being launched, but is based on the same philosophy that has guided the company since its creation 7 years ago: maximizing self-consumption of renewable energy and reducing the energy bill thanks to LANCEY storage technology.

No availability date or price for the moment, the system is still at the prototype stage for the moment. But the idea is interesting!
