The revolutionary Netatmo Advance camera unveiled: artificial intelligence and privacy combined at last!

I’ve been a fan of Netatmo products since the very beginning, and still have the iconic connected weather station that’s been running in my home for over ten years. So when the French company announces the launch of a new product, I’m always eager to learn more. Yesterday, the manufacturer unveiled its new Netatmo Advance camera, which replaces the famous Welcome camera, which featured face recognition. This little marvel of technology, which will be available from February 19, 2025, could well turn the connected security market upside down. And with good reason: it manages the tour de force of combining cutting-edge artificial intelligence with absolute respect for privacy.

Netatmo Advance: a radically different approach to security

Gone are the days when you had to choose between security and privacy! The new Netatmo Advance offers a totally rethought approach to video surveillance. Its trump card? A fully on-board artificial intelligence system that analyzes images directly in the camera, without ever sending them to the cloud.

But that’s not all! The camera incorporates a particularly clever feature called “Smart Privacy”. Thanks to this, the mechanical shutter closes automatically when you return home, and reopens only when you leave. No need to feel spied on at home!

Technical performance to match

When it comes to technical performance, this little marvel is no slouch! It films in 2K HDR with a 130-degree viewing angle, and features a 16x zoom. Audio quality is not to be outdone, with a beamforming system using two microphones for crystal-clear sound reproduction.

And what about storage? An 8 GB SD card is supplied (expandable to 16 GB), for up to 6 months of recordings. And the best part? These videos are encrypted and accessible only via the secure application.

Minimalist design that hits the bull’s eye

Let’s talk a little about design, because it’s an aspect that hasn’t been neglected! The Netatmo Advance’s sleek lines will blend discreetly into any interior. Available in two colors, it comes with smart accessories such as a PoE adapter for wired installation or a wall bracket for perfect integration. It can be placed on a piece of furniture, or mounted on a wall or ceiling, just as you like!

Artificial intelligence made in France

What really makes the difference is the artificial intelligence developed in Boulogne-Billancourt. The facial recognition and motion detection algorithms were trained on over 100,000 images, with the help of 400 ambassadors. A mammoth task, enabling the camera to distinguish precisely between humans and animals, and to recognize familiar faces.

The price of freedom

Hold on to your hats: the Netatmo Advanced will be sold for €249.99. “Ouch!” you say? Well, think again! Unlike the competition, which offers cheaper cameras with monthly subscriptions, there are no hidden costs here. Everything is included, and updates are free. In the long term, you simply can’t beat it!

An eco-responsible introductory offer

And the icing on the cake: Netatmo is launching a particularly attractive trade-in offer. Owners of an old Netatmo camera can return it in exchange for a €50 discount on the new one. Yes, even if you bought your camera 10 years ago! The old cameras will be reconditioned, an initiative that fits in perfectly with our circular economy approach.

The 2025 version of connected security

This new camera comes at just the right time, at a time when security is a major concern (with over 200,000 burglaries a year in France). But beyond the figures, it’s above all the way Netatmo meets today’s expectations that impresses: respect for privacy, meticulous design, cutting-edge artificial intelligence and an eco-responsible approach. Not to mention its openness: in addition to being compatible with various voice assistants (Amazon, Google, Apple), APIs will also be available for integration into our home automation systems. In fact, work is already underway with Home Assistant to integrate all this as seamlessly as possible!

The Netatmo Advance is not just a simple surveillance camera, it’s a real response to the challenges of our time. It proves that it’s possible to reconcile security and privacy, cutting-edge technology and ease of use. It’s a fine demonstration of French know-how that deserves our close attention! I’ll be back with a full review very soon! Stay tuned!
